LYCHEE

Lychee (pronounced “lee-chee”) is a sub-tropical fruit originating in southern China. These golf-ball sized fruit have a leathery shell, but a sweet, floral, grape-like flesh. Most people are familiar with them from Chinese restaurants, where the soggy fruit is swimming in heavy syrup. However, the fresh fruit is great, especially when served chilled or as part of a lychee martini.
